Welcome to Connections Academy Esports!
Connections Academy Esports is comprised of several Connections Academy Esports Teams. We play competitively in the PlayVS league for students in grades 6-12 and the High School Esports League for students in grades 9-12. We have competitive seasons in both the Fall and Spring.
We stream many of our matches live on Twitch in the evenings during the competitive season. Make sure to follow us on Twitch so you can receive notifications when we go live!
Connections Esports Game Titles*
Rocket League (ESRB rated E) is a fast paced game of soccer using rocket powered cars. The standard competitive mode is 3v3 where teams try to score the most goals in a 5 minute game. Matches are best of 7, so the first team to win 4 games, wins the match. Rocket League is cross platform and can be played on PC and all current gaming consoles.
Valorant (ESRB rated T) is a tactical first-person shooter where players take on the role of agents with powerful unique abilities. Two teams of 5 alternate as Attackers and Defenders in a best of 25 series (first team to win 13 rounds, wins the series). The Attackers have 100 seconds to plant a spike in a designated location on the map. The Defenders must disarm the spike before it detonates. Either team can also win by eliminating the other team (the spike must still be disarmed). Valorant currently can only be played on PC. Available only for high school students.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (ESRB rated E10+) is a crossover platform fighting game published by Nintendo and exclusively on Nintendo Switch. Players control a character and use a series of attacks to weaken their opponent and knock them out of the arena. Each player has a percentage meter. When their character takes damage, this value increases and the amount of knockback they will take also increases, making it easier to knock them out of the arena. There are currently 89 playable fighters in the game. This is an individual esport where one player will face off against a single opponent.

Splatoon 3 (ESRB rated E10+) is an action shooter published by Nintendo and played exclusively on Nintendo Switch. Players take on the role of a squid-like “Inkling” playing in various game modes using weapons that shoot colorful ink. Inklings can also “swim” in their own ink color which allows them to climb walls and move more quickly. Teams of four players will compete against each other in a Best of 5 series using these game modes in the following order: Turf War, Rainmaker, Splat Zones, Tower Control, and Clam Blitz.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (ESRB rated E) is a team racing game published by Nintendo and played on Nintendo Switch. Players select their driver and customize their kart based on the available options. Matches are set up to be 6v6 but only four players from each team will compete (the remaining racers will be bots). During a four-race match, players will be able to access power-ups by driving through item boxes on the course. These power-ups provide an advantage for drivers as they fight for the lead.
